Department overview
The Windows Server Administrator maintains and supports the Production and Non-Production (Dev/QA) Windows-based midrange infrastructure, which is inclusive of the hardware and operating system. Troubleshooting and performance evaluation and tuning as well as patching are part of the daily tasks. Our goal is to continually achieve the highest levels of system availability for the business, provide both on- and off-hours maintenance and support for the Windows based server infrastructure. Assists the Development, Deployment and Solution Engineering teams to ensure that the Windows infrastructure is configured according to standards, as well as operational and security guidelines.
Represents the CPDS operations team on enterprise IT initiatives as assigned and provides recommendations to Service Managers. Responsible for configuring Development, TEST, QA and/or Production environment to standards.
The CPDS Operations team provides support 24 x 7 x 365.
The aim of Infrastructure is to deliver a globally consistent operational model with consolidated toolsets and compliant processes across for IHS Markit. Infrastructure will be organized on a Global, Regional and Local basis with the appropriate capabilities in each area to meet the business needs and drive the most efficient organization.
Position summary

Participate in managing the Global Windows support platform by:
leveraging regional/global skills and locations to deliver a world class, cost effective, operational service
implementing standard policies and procedures
Driving Service Management and Infrastructure Support of the Windows operating platform.
Escalation point for all Windows Production stability issues and project driven work.

Technology
Ownership in the Windows infrastructure and dedicated teams of resources, focused on the Windows Operations environment.
Be an escalation point of contact for major Windows Infrastructure disruptions.
Contributes to the approval of new or amended IT standards, procedures and other quality managed processes. Ensures that adequate technology, procedures and resources are in place to support the quality of the systems.
Process
Maximises efficiencies by reducing complexity and ensuring adherence to standards where appropriate.
Drives Problem Management Processes to establish root cause for all high profile business outages.
Identifies and plans systematic corrective strategies to reduce errors and improve the quality of Operational services, by examination of the root cause.
Generates appropriate documentation to support relevant processes and systems
Participate in global on-call rotation
Challenges current methods and approaches for resolving technical issues, bringing insight and innovation.
Engages collaboratively and manages key product, client, supplier & stakeholder relationships.
Active contribution to the direction and planning initiatives.
Adherence to financial budgets.
Contributes to the annual planning and budgetary process.
Business competencies
Education and experience
Preferably degree educated.
Industry recognized certification.
Worked in geographically dispersed teams.
Proven experience of managing large scale, disparate Microsoft installations, preferably within a financial environment.

PowerShell Scripting
System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)/Tanium
Web Technology Support (IIS knowledge)
Microsoft DNS Support knowledge
System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
HP,UCS and Dell Server Hardware
Citrix support
Strong working knowledge of several of the following technologies or products:Microsoft Storage Replica, Microsoft DFS, MS PKI, MS Failover Clustering, Symantec Endpoint Manager, NetBackup, iSCSI and FC based SAN storage,CrowdStrike, Commvault
Commercial awareness
A thorough understanding of the technologies & techniques of IHS Markit’s preferred technology partners and suppliers. Specific emphasis on maximizing product functionality to the benefit of IHS Markit.
Able to evidence that strong relationships have been developed with leading technology vendors in the Microsoft space
Commercial/business management expertise.
